Thanks for taking the time John Cage! You told me a while back, you play round about 7-8 instruments. Please tell me, how did the exposure with instruments has affected you, on your handling with the turntable.
Oh yeah I did say that... I failed to mention that those 8 are un-mastered, IMO I can play them convincingly but there are Hella "knowledge Gaps" for each Voice that I play, but hopefully with school and hard work I can fill those gaps. As far as mentally the Juxtopositon of traditional instruments and the turntable for me Build madd ear-training skills it also adds a good dose of insight and invention as far a Uncommon Phrasing and strange timing all together it's a weird Symbiotic Mutualism that takes place when I perform on either Traditional or the Turntable as far as accidental insight or melodic invention, the same goes for the physicality I use both like im Playing the other,,, hmm hope that makes sense...
What's your opinion on the current development of turntable music?
Im noticing the interjection of live instruments which in my opinion is a natural marriage, traditional instruments being slave to the turntables melodic invention How Stimulating is that!!!, I also feel like scratch music can take any direction musically it all open field...
What do you love/hate about (turntable) music at all?
Aww man I love the chameleon-like quality's of the turntable it proves to be infinite in aural appearance, also as scratchers we have the ability to move our instrument at very tiny increments. I "maybe" hate the fact that More People aren't aware of it's capabilities.
What are your future goals?
I'm Trying to crack reading music above and below the Treble and Bass Clef,., Really just filling in those "knowledge Gaps", so schools somewhere in there.
You're originally from Texas? What are you doing in CO.?
Yes Born in Chicago Illinois, Moved to Houston, ended up in Colorado... pretty much a long ass Vacation to tell the truth It still Feels like the Summer after High School Graduation, but Ultimately out here I'm Learning to Play music, that's inventive and Serve God with my Gift!!!
How starts/ends a day in the life of Fast4wrd?
Whoa... Wakeup Conversations and Thanks to God, if theres no work like today,,, Fall into a super unorganized Jam session/Improvisation practice, Stop/Eat Go back to practice... Throw away madd hours aimlessly watching Youtube or searching the internet for kan-all-age on music Theory, Realize I just Craped on a hour or two.,. Go back to practice, Read Current Music theory Book, Practice concepts then try to internalize lose interest.,. Spend Time Vibing with God, Read important Bible Passes/Listen to Christian Radio, Then Eat, Jam, Sleep Thanks GOD!

D-Styles interview!
Thank you D-Styles for taking the time for this interview!
No Problemo.
First off, are you contentedly about the current development of turntable music?
Yes and No. I mean I wish there were more people putting out albums. I think there would be more awareness to the public of what we do as well. But im guessing making turntable music is not for everyone. I think with the Vestax Controller 1 turntable, this will inspire more music to come about so we
will see what will happen In the next 3-5 years.
What is/are your main aim(s) for the future?
Im working on new music. Some of it is turntable music, some of it is sampler based music. For me the most important thing is that I don't lose the urge to make music because I lost it for a bit. I didn't want to go into my studio and turn on my equipment. I cant force myself to work on music, Id rather wait until im excited again and hungry for it. I guess ultimately id like to put out more albums. Finding a label for it is a whole nother thing.
What else you enjoy besides (your) Music, BBQ and Texas Hold 'Em?
Chilling with the family. Watching movies.
How does a typically day in the life of D-Styles look like?
Wake up at 7:30am. Feed my daughter breakfast. Return emails. Drop my daughter off at school. Come back home. Feed the dogs. Work on music. Pick up my daughter at 4:00pm. Come back home. Eat dinner at 7:00pm with The family. Return emails. Put my daughter to bed. Shag the wife. Work on music or sleep by 1:00am. The day repeats.
Is/Are there any question(s) you've been never asked in an interview, but ever want?
Is there life on Mars? Why did ISP breakup? Whats up with Ricci Rucker? Is there really a Grandmaster? Where do you get your records pressed at? Do I believe in coral calcium? What is the hardest scratch for me to do? What other music groups am I currently listening to? Who was bloody cotex?
Anything you want to tell your listeners?
On a serious note... DJ Flare was shot recently and I hope he gets well soon. We almost lost one of the most real motherfuckers out there.
Anything else?
Nope thank you for the interview! Have a nice day.
